Bridge to Nowhere Print

Description

Belhaven Bay ‘Bridge to Nowhere’, near Dunbar in East Lothian region, Scotland.

The small bridge connects east and west beach at Belhaven Bay but at high tide it becomes a ‘bridge to nowhere’, as the beach sand and the river dividing the beach are submerged by rising sea water and invisible.

It’s a hard call to photograph the bridge to nowhere, it is only possible at the highest tide and in only one season. The extremely long exposure photograph requires relatively low wind and generally stable weather conditions. This photo was taken with over 4 minutes exposure to achieve the flat blurred water and gentle lines of passing clouds – to add the abstract factor to the scene.

Mine has been calibrated to match the output the labs will print, please also remember that photos on a monitor have the advantage of being backlit and so therefore may appear slightly brighter than a print on white paper. I compensate for this before printing but the image on your screen will always look brighter.
