We look forward to hearing back from you, dear reader, tell us what are your favourite locations in England or which areas you’d like to see covered on our website!
England is the largest part of United Kingdom and takes up more than half of Great Britain island. The land is dotted with beautiful locations, amazing hills and mountains as well as vast dales (valleys), jaw-dropping beaches and great coastal trails. Some of English locations are among the most spectacular in UK; there’s so much to see and enjoy, hiking opportunities are endless.
Lake District is located in Cumbria and undoubtedly is one of the most stunning areas in England. Its green hills are incredibly picturesque. Not to mention crystal clear lakes surrounded by pristine woodlands and reflecting mountains in their mirror-like water!
Mountains of Lake District offer hiking and walking routes that would satisfy any walker, choose from beautiful low-level walks, craggy climbs, incredible ridge walks, professional level rock climbs. Whether you’re a novice to the outdoors or a seasoned climber, you’ll find a suitable location!
Our all time favourite hike in Lake District is Helvellyn in the northern part of region. We conquered Helvellyn several times, the best route to climb Helvellyn is via Striding Edge, a knife-sharp ridge, a fabulous hiking experience in any season, however we feel it’s best to add that this route should be attempted by experienced walkers rather than beginners! Helvellyn is such a fine hike, we didin’t hesitate to list it among the 12 best wintry hikes in Europe!
Other walks we loved in Lake District include Haystacks, featured within 15 stunning hikes to enjoy in spring.
As we mentioned above, England offers a wide spectrum of walking and hiking adventures, check out below articles to find more inspiration for walking holidays in England, beside Lake District:
